Unpacking PACS Edge Server is a DICOM server, Database server and Web server rolled into one. Edge PACS server is a DICOM complaint system that is designed to receive DICOM and Non-DICOM modalities(through a DICOM converter) and archive them on a DICOM server.
Edge PACS has a robust scalable architecture that supports all the DICOM 3.0 functions. Edge PACS is available in both Windows and Linux platforms. It supports clustered server functionality and has multi threading architectural feature.
Edge PACS server has a routing component that provides an intelligent rule-based system to route patient images and studies to other DICOM based sources in multi-modality and high volume environments.

DICOM Services:
DICOM classes supported include Store, Query/Retrieve
SOP classes supported include SCU, SCP.
It supports the following classes – C-Find, C-Move, C-Get, C-Echo and C-Store
Database Management:
Set data source for storage of received DICOM files
Calculate total study size on disk for easy archival purposes
Allow administrator to delete duplicated or unwanted studies.
Volume Management:
Set the location where the DICOM images need to be stored – Local hard drive, DAS, NAS SAN, etc.
Create multiple storage volume for data management
DICOM Devices Manager:
Support all DICOM modalities including CR, DR, CT, MR, Ultrasound, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine, etc. and DICOM converters for non-DICOM modalities and images.
Add multiple DICOM sources to the server including Modality, stand alone viewer, workstation, DICOM converter, other DICOM softwares etc. based on available licenses.
Archive Management:
Archive/Backup data available online to external media like CD/DVD.
Schedule jobs for archival at a later point of time.
Retrieve archived jobs based on volume title, year, patient ID, modality, etc.
Institution Management:
Add different institutions to the server and assign them to different users for diagnosis.
User Administration:
Add/Manage multiple users who access the server from viewing stations across the network with username and password.
Define the role of each user as admin, radiology viewer, and physician viewer with different access rights.
Select institution for each user to view. The EDGE server filters appropriate institutions for the user based on DICOM information.
Security Features:
Set password for the administration module
Log files for Query server and store server to track errors.
